listen, home has been nice in that "nothing is going right, and i'm kind of unhappy" way, which i guess isn't particularly nice, but it has been warm and quiet. and well, i've seen warm faces and that's been comforting. but it's been kind of like bumping into sharp corners and my legs are all in bruises (truly). something is off balance, and i've been saying i miss new york and although i do i don't think that's it.

I've reached that climax through a day of silly misplaced sobs leaving me tired and breathless (defeated). I want to throw away computers, phones, paper and writing utensils to make room for the important things: ideas delivered by a voice, whose intonation I can truly read and understand, visible physical distances - not imagined ones. I'm amazed (and disgusted) with myself for such revelatory actions, parading around my character flaws as if they are some definition of my existence. But somehow I still believe that strong feelings are not flaws, but very special, rare things, not to be trampled on like roadside flower patches. And maybe it's just me doing the trampling, by feeling so childish, foolish, and guilty for allowing the buds to blossom in the first place.

My state has been both calm and turbulent here, similar to the weight of the air before a hurricane comes. Light conversations masking heavy things, meaningful glances and stacks of deep deep memories. My mother is beautiful and its hard to leave her here, in this perfect place, just to go somewhere difficult and uncertain.
